Anti-jam Car Engineering Project
Childhood dream
2012: frustrated by traffic jams on the road to school, became interested in “flying cars” and developed a proof of concept prototype using LEGO.
2014: wanted to learn about the aerodynamic principles behind flying. Built a wind tunnel using scraps and experiment with various wing geometries.
The latest concept: with a press of a button, extensions will unfold from between a car and its wheels—the car will rise above normal car height so the driver can drive over the cars in front. Researched 30+ car designs, both conceptual and realistic, and used 50 3d-printed parts to make a working miniature prototype. Experimented with pumping piston to using ropes and pulleys for execution.
Future: plan to continue working on innovative solutions to traffic congestion with the NYU C2SMART Center.
