Components Breakdown

Global Competency

  • I had the privilege of studying abroad at the Technical University of Denmark for one semester and traveling across Europe during my time there.

  • I learned about many fascinating applications of composite materials, sustainable energy, and economic devices in the classes I took.

  • Through community gatherings and professional events, I’ve met a fascinating group of friends and expanded my network.

  • In Fall 2023, I joined a materials technology startup based in Boston and worked with engineering teams across Europe, China, and the US.

  • I have learned the different ways people conduct business in different countries and have helped secure contracts with Chinese vendors and European Clients.

  • In the Winter of 2023, I traveled with fellow GLASS students to Bandung, Indonesia for a three-week-long service program, where I learned the cultural differences between the west and the east, with topics on workstyle, the concept of time, social distance, and more.

Leadership Development

  • During the 2022 Fall semester, I joined the Robotics Club at NYU as the vice president and organized several workshops on competition robotics.

  • I also took an online course in data analytics this semester through the GlobalTech Experience. …

  • Not only was I able to learn advanced techniques in Excel and Tableau, I also developed my intercultural awareness and communication skills.

  • Through these opportunities, I had the privilege of meeting many amazing friends and mentors who have become important individuals in my life.

  • Working as the team lead of NYU Selfdrive, I helped refine the VIP’s syllabus and facilitated the 2025 Fall recruitment process. This experience will further enhance my project management and public speaking skills.

Academic Excellence

  • During my study abroad semester, I had the opportunity to take on a research project in DTU’s Additive Manufacturing Group.

  • The project aims to solve problems with printing with ceramic and metal photopolymers using a recoating mechanism.

  • Although the project schedule was intense, I really enjoyed working on this project since it was a self-guided and liberating experience.

  • Other works, including the object detection project I led in VIP Sixth Sense, also fall within this window.

  • In Fall 2023, I joined AI4CE at NYU and am responsible for the development of a compliant silicon-based gripper system in the DeepSoro Group. More information can be found here. Other side hustles from the lab include the Mobile Object Manipulation project under the Postdoc Wenyu Han.

  • In Summer 2024, I joined the FAMS lab under Professor Rui Li to lead innovative research in soft robotic actuators and smart wearables for medical rehabilitation. More information can be found here.

Professional Development

  • Through my TA position at EG1004, I was extremely lucky to meet a group of supportive peers and become friends with many of my colleagues.

  • I’m also actively participating in career events at NYU and DTU, and attended the Ramboll SPARK competition and the CAMX Expo in Fall 2022; both of which paved paths to exciting career opportunities.

  • In October 2023, I attended the SASE Convention and made valuable and long-lasting connections, and learned about companies like Mortenson and Stantec.

  • In Summer 2024, I continued my internship at Kanda Industries, where I practiced my soft skills in engaging new clients, professional communications, and producing engineering documentation. I attended the largest textiles and yarn expo in the world in Shanghai, China on behalf of the company and made many industry connections.

Commitment to Service

  • During high school, I did a few volunteering works in the community, including science lectures and field surveys.

  • As a teaching assistant for EG1004, I was able to offer project ideas and solve difficult engineering problems with students.

  • My activity in the Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) Sixth Sense and Robotics Club at NYU was also related to this window.

  • In Summer 2025, I am promoted to the team lead of the VIP team at NYU Selfdrive. I have plans to organize a series of public-facing exhibitions/events to spread awareness and understanding of autonomous driving technologies. A budget request is written and pending approval.
